If you like you can use dried flowers and make a beautiful corner piece, no watering, no fuss. Cheap plastic pots can be hand painted as you desire. You must have some saucers for the bottoms so water doesn't damage or stain your floors and window sills. Don't forget the benefits and possibilities of family togetherness or "quality" time when gardening. You spouse and children can all get in on the fun.

Depending on your personality you can plan on where you want o put a flower decide which kind and color and then order the plant and have it delivered or you can order a bunch of plants and then decide where they fit the best. The "shotgun" method. You should at least have an idea of whether you want sun lovers or plants requiring shade, however or you may waste some money of plants that won't do well fo you.

Try different combination of plants together in groups of even and odd numbers and see what you like many say that groups of odd numbers are more attractive but I think it is up to you.

Industrial style interior design. It’s sleek, sexy, urban sophistication. Its hip, it’s in, it’s now. Done right it’s as cool as an upscale penthouse flat. Done wrong it can leave you feeling as cold as a New York City street! Industrial style is all about structure, clean lines, simplicity and zero clutter.

Â

In effort to maintain the sleek clean design, it’s easy to end up with a room that feels cold and somehow underdone. When you’re working with such a bare bones kind of style, each piece in the room becomes emphasized and important. The pressure is on to choose well. So how do you cozy it up without cluttering it up? How do you make metal and cement feel warm? How do you make industrial spaces feel inviting? It’s easier than you might think!

Â

Texture

The use of texture softens of the cold hard surfaces used in Industrial design. With so many hard surfaces you have few opportunities to add texture. This makes the fabrics in your furniture and area rugs key. Think shag, heavy waffle weave, sisal or even leather! Stay sleek, not Country. Keep it in solid colors or very bold design. Nothing busy or fussy. You can add a single large textural throw pillow or even a couple of bolsters without loosing your look. You may even soften the windows with silky sheers.Â

Â

Color

Warm colors have the power to warm virtually any space. Obviously warmth can be added with the color of hardwood floors or the exposed red brick walls as so often seen, but what about in other places? How do you add warm color without straying from the machine made loft feeling? Use it very deliberately. Apply it to an accent wall, the fabric on your furniture, wood accents, or better yet, with art. Large bold canvas paintings or sculptural pieces. Very sheik. Very sophisticated.

Â

Plants

A single plant can add life to a space that may other wise feel rather dead. In keeping with the simple and polished look, choose plants that have strong lines. Stay away from small frilly type plants with tiny leaves. Make it big, bold, deliberate and sculptural.

Â

Light

Light is a simple, beautiful and functional way to warm up a space. We’re not talking about cold cool white florescent light here. We’re talking about a warm wash of yellow light. Don’t use this warm light everywhere, just in a few strategic places. Warm yellow light is like adding instant sunshine to your space. Keep your light fixtures in line with your Industrial style for a seamless blend of warm and cool.

Â

The Industrial look is all about exposure. That is, it’s about allowing the inherent beauty of the structure of things to be seen.  Simplicity in everything from the furniture to the accessories allows the structure of things to be enjoyed without the distraction of too much pattern or ‘stuff’. The trick to adding warmth to Industrial design is well placed moderation. The look is so clean and clutter free, that you have to be careful not to overdo it. You just need to sprinkle a little warmth here and there. A striking plant, a colorful art piece, a splash of warm light, a inviting area rug to draw you in; it all adds up to an ultra cool, ultra sheik urban industrial look that anybody can warm up to!

A good gardening tip is that you can make more plants from your existing house and garden plants. This will cut out the expense of buying new house and garden plants. Look around for healthy plants to take the stem cuttings from to plant in a peat moss mixture using rooting hormone. This is what is called the mother plant. Make sure the mother plant has enough stems so the cutting will not kill the mother plant.

If you start your house and garden plants from stem cuttings instead of seeds it will take half the time to root. There a just a few things you will need : a mother plant, a flat for potting with a peat moss mixture, a sharp knife or razor blade, rooting hormone, containers for holding water and rooting hormone, alcohol, pencil or a stick, and a plastic bag.

Common sense tells you that you should take a stem cutting from the plant's thickest green non flowering stems. The spot where the leaf attaches to the stem, known as the node, are the best place for you to take the stem cutting. The plants growth rooting hormones are concentrated there. Choose green, non-woody stems for taking the stem cuttings from the mother plant. Newer growth is easier to root than woody stems.

Cut with a sterilized instrument, either a very sharp knife or a razor blade, just below the node and then make another slanted cut about two or three inches further up the plant. This should provide you a stem cutting about three inches in length with two or three nodes. Trim off the side shoots and remove most of the leaves leaving a few since the stem cutting will need the leaves to provide food. Any large leaves must be removed as their wilting stresses the stem cutting and will definitely slow down the rooting process.

With your sterilized instrument make a clean cut in the bottom node. The roots will be formed from the sliced node.

Fill a clean plant pot or container with a peat moss potting mix to hold your stem cuttings for rooting. By using a peat moss potting mix you are giving the plant an atmosphere where the cutting will stay moist, not wet and sloppy.

You can make your own peat moss mixture; here are a couple of recipes:

½ sand and ½ peat moss or
½ perlite and ½ peat moss or
½ sand and ½ vermiculite or
½ perlite and ½ vermiculite or
Equal parts sand, perlite, vermiculite or peat moss instead of vermiculite.

Start by dipping the bottom inch of the stem cutting into the water and then the rooting hormone. This will help to speed up the creation of roots. The rooting hormone stimulates the stem cutting to send out new roots from the node. You will need to dip the cutting into the water and then into the rooting hormone. Tap off the excess as to not jeopardize your success with this stem cutting. If, after you have finished with your stem cuttings you have some of the rooting hormone left, throw it away. Once a stem cutting has touched it the rooting hormone becomes activated.

Moisten the peat moss potting mixture and poke holes in it to accommodate your plants. By making holes in the peat moss rooting medium with the pencil or the stick it will ensure that the rooting hormone remains on the cutting, not on the potting mixture surface. This will improve chances of rooting the stem cuttings and creating new house or garden plants. After you have successfully placed the stem cutting in the medium, gently press the potting mixture around it. You should plant your cuttings about 4-5 inches apart to allow for air circulation and room to root.

Place the container into a plastic bag and put it in a warm spot in the house. The reason for the bag is to keep the stem cuttings in high humidity and to hold in heat. You are creating a mini Greenhouse that takes up very little space. Don't seal the bag as you need to allow for air circulation. Only after you see new growth should the cuttings be placed in a sunny area. Keep checking you stem cuttings. If the bag shows condensation you are likely giving it too much moisture. Take off the bag and let it dry out a little.

The way to test for new root growth is to gently pull on the plant after a few weeks. If there is resistance the plants are ready to be transferred into individual pots. Now you will have a new plant that you have cultivated from the mother plant.

Now use all these gardening tips and grow some new plants using stem cuttings.

Happy Gardening!

One of the cheapest interior design innovations involves usage of decorative mirrors. Decorating using mirrors is an excellent way to enhance a home's interior look. It can also make returns when the homeowner is to sell the property. This idea is known as making up the home. Properties that were languished months or years together were sold soon after their make up. Homeowner should try to decorate using mirrors. People who usually don't consider ideas of themselves particularly innovative even will find it appealing.

There are many types of mirrors that can be used in decorations. One of them is a mirror that is bevelled and has polished edge. This has a 3/4 inch wide edge where it is slightly angled. The bevelled edge is to enhance the finish and is highly recommended on all framed types of mirrors. Though plain wall mirrors have a polished edge instead of these bevelled, the polishing of it smoothens the edge, ensuring that it is not sharpened or made brittle.

Selection and purchase of these mirrors have become a more tedious job than just investing. On getting new products from the manufacturers, the framed ones come are found to be with brackets attached on all its four sides. Screws are to be inserted into the wall while the mirror's brackets are to be placed directly on the head of the screw. No wire or string are used for hanging the mirror as it may be cut by brackets or external forces on the frame’s edge may damage the mirror.

Fixing of these mirrors is another major step in decorating with decorative mirrors. There are many methods to fix one. It is possible if holes are drilled into them so that fixing using screws is possible and we can also use brackets that screw in to the wall so that the mirror slots in to the brackets and an alternatively usage of the gluing method to glue the mirror where building adhesive is used. In the case of large and plain mirrors, they are always manufactured with backing for safety as it is used to prevent the glass out from splintering even if it is broken for health and safety reasons. This ensures the mirror can be used in the decorative bathrooms. The only important feature that differentiates the bathroom mirrors and the rest decorative range of the mirrors is that these bathroom mirrors do not contain any wooden parts.

There are a few maintenance secrets or tips too to be followed. It is that if a frame or a wooden back board has been subjected to greater humidity or if it gets wet very often, it may potentially buckle or warp. Anyway, many of the homeowners who have bought a standard timber framed mirror that was hung in bathrooms without much of any problem. It is not a problem if good ventilation is provided.

With all these tips and ideas we now know about decorative mirrors usage in interior designing, beautifying our homes is not something fashioned by the rich alone.

Though just about anyone given enough time could become a knowledgeable gardener, some folks don't have a lot of space and therefore wave off the possibilities without considering what can be done with container gardening.

One key benefit of growing in containers is that you can move the plants at will and are never locked into any particular type or placement of a plant. Just as if you were to rearrange your furniture you'd consider it no trouble to move an item from one to another location. with container plants you can rearrange both outdoors and indoors as many plants require only partial sunlight. Plants add flavor and atmosphere to any room, instantly making the space cozy and inviting.

You can also use artificial lighting indoor if you like. One can adjust the soil to fit the needs of a particular plant as well as place that plant in the area most suited to it's needs and most appealing to you. An aesthetically pleasing arrangement of containers and plants can be gathered near a window or hung from the ceiling where it will get ample light. You can use hanging plants as well as supporting columns such as milk crates or end tables to adjust the containers to different heights. With a little playing around and experimenting you will likely come up with an arrangement both unique and beautiful.

A wood step ladder can be painted decoratively and then have plants placed on each rung as well as the top to make a cascading fall of color in a corner or near a window. Accent this by having hanging baskets on either side, the possibilities are endless. You can either use annuals that you purchase in bloom or near bloom each season or you can have perennials which will be with you year round. One gardening tip is to invert an identical pot and set your potted plant on top of the inverted one it makes a pleasing design.

There is almost always some little thing that you can do to your plants such as checking the soil for watering needs, picking off brown leaves or blossoms after they begin to brown, re-potting the plants or just talking to them if you have the time they have the time. Be sure to check the soil for dryness before you water over-watering is a common problem and many a plant has been lovingly drowned. Occasionally lift the pot up and check the drain hole to see if roots are coming out, if they are you probably need to re-pot the plant. Roots crowning above the soil can be an indicator as well. You can turn the plant over, tap the pot and pull it off the plant. If the you see a mass of roots and hardly any soil your plant is root bound an must be transplanted to a larger pot.

As your shopping for plants on the internet you should be able to access the space requirements as well as the size of container you will need for the plant.
Plastic containers are durable and long lasting, however clay pots can be quite colorfully decorated. Clay pots often cost more and break easily, something to consider when making your purchase.

Container gardening is reaching a greater appeal each year as more people discover the joys of gardening. (this is pure conjecture, but it sounds good, and hey, it could be true) The thing is if you want to have plants but don't have a lot of space, or if you have garden outside but want some portable plants for color and atmosphere then container gardening may be a good way for you to go.

My life yield an abundant harvest of joy for you today.

Interior design is a double edged sword. If you get it right, you can be the proud owner of a beautiful home. But if you get it wrong, you will be forced to stay in a less than desirable house for years. It may take a long time before you have the time, resources and energy to redesign your home again. So be sure to get it right.

There are 2 common redecorating approaches that you may wish to get acquainted with. The first approach, requires you to be consistent. That means the entire design of the house will be of the same look and feel. For instance, you can choose to have a classical or a modern look, but it's the same throughout.

However, you may face fierce protest from your family members. If you have any kids, they probably won't let you design their rooms for them. But for small families, this method can work quite well. It will save you the hassle of having to think of a new design for each and every room. At times, when resources and time is scarce, this is the best approach to adopt.

But if things don't go well, you will have to adopt a completely different approach. The next approach is the complete opposite of the first one. Each room will have its own unique design. Each room will have a completely different look and feel. The benefit of adopting this approach is that no one needs to fight over the style of the home. Everyone will be happy.

You are the master of the kitchen and the living room. Kids will have no interest whatsoever in the designs of these rooms.

The living room is a huge room. Thus, it is more difficult to work on the living room. You may have to think about how to fill up the larger space. So your living room will take up more of your time. First, think about the larger set pieces for the living room. Center pieces refer to those big items that will attract attention. For example, the sofa set or the dining set. After you decide on the center pieces, you will find it easier to furnish the rest of the room.

The kitchen is another room that require more of your time and attention. You or your spouse will be using the kitchen appliances to prepare meals for the family. So put in more effort to create the dream kitchen you are looking for. The final design you pick depends on many things. Think about how you can make good use of every inch in the kitchen. After installing the cabinets, cupboards, etc., there should still be lots of room for you to move around as you work. Depending on your budget, you can choose to have a classic or a luxurious design. Obviously, luxurious designs are likely to cost a lot more. Be prepared to spend more on elegant designs.

Last but not least, be reminded that redesigning and redecorating a home can be hard work. Cut up your plan into smaller pieces so that it's easier to work on them. This allows you to keep your focus on each room as you work. You will get better results when you do so.

When springtime rolls around, nurseries open their balmy doors and display rolls of perfectly cultivated seedlings. If you have always planted with nursery seedlings, you may be under the impression that starting seeds is difficult.

Many people just go out and buy a hanging garden basket planter or a small pot to grow in their window ceil or apartment balcony. In fact, it is so simple that a child could accomplish the task as a basic science experiment- and they do, all the time! If you have been unable to find plant varieties that you prefer, or just want more control over your garden, it's a great time to try seed starting.

You only need a few supplies to start your own seeds.

You will need a covered cell pack to hold your seedlings, some seed starting mix and something to mark the seedlings with either commercial markers or simple craft sticks. These basic supplies are inexpensive and you won't need much, so don't be tempted to skimp. While you could certainly dig up garden dirt, it won't work as well as a seed starting mix, so don't substitute. Always remember that you can just simply go out and read similar Gardening Articles such as the one your reading now, they will ususally explain where and when you went wrong, if you did of course.

Of course, you will also need some seeds to grow; tomatoes and peppers are great places to start your seed starting adventures.

Before you do anything, pour out a bit of seed starting mix into a large bowl and dampen it.

Because of the peat moss, it's hard to work with dry seed starter.
Once damp, you can pack it gently into the cell packs.
Drill two holes into the mixture with a regular pencil tip.
Drop seeds of the same variety into each hole and cover.
Place a marker, indicating the date and variety, into the edge of each cell.
Cover the container that is holding the cell packs and place in a warm, dark place.

Depending on the variety, it can take several days to several weeks for your seeds to break the surface.

Once that happens, move your seedlings to a light source, either natural or artificial, to complete their growing stage.

Home staging is very similar to interior design and it employs many of the same concepts: using color, light and accessories to balance a space visually and make it more appealing and attractive. However, home staging is more than just interior design; it is the process of preparing a house for sale. So instead of designing the space to appeal to the current residents - the sellers - the space is designed to appeal to potential buyers.

Staging is becoming increasingly popular as real estate agents and sellers alike look to distinguish their property from the competition. If you've ever walked through a model home, you will understand the feeling that buyers get. They react emotionally to an attractive and beautifully decorated home that they can mentally move their things into.

Staging is an extremely effective marketing tool and it is a fact that staged homes sell faster and for more money than their non-staged counterparts. If you choose not to stage your property, you not only risk leaving money on the table, you also risk letting it sit on the market longer than necessary.

Clean, Neutralize, Declutter

Before staging begins, it is important to have the property thoroughly cleaned. Kitchens and bathrooms should sparkle! Have carpets shampooed or replaced, wash all the windows, and make sure the walls are painted with a neutral hue to appeal to the majority of buyers.

The most important aspect of preparation is to remove clutter. Clutter eats equity! Paperwork, small items, collections, and family photos on the countertops, shelving and tables should be packed up and put into storage. You are going to pack it all anyway, so it is best to pack it up now and get it out of sight of your buyers.

Extra furniture should be removed to storage. If a home has too much or too little in it, it is difficult for most buyers to visualize how their own things will look in the home. Staging makes it easy for them to see themselves in YOUR property. Remember: You are selling your house, not your things, and the way you live in your home and the way you market and sell your house are very different.

The exterior should be neat and appealing. The walk should be swept. Landscaping should be neither sparse nor overgrown; you can't sell it if you can't see it. Add colorful plants and flowers to brighten up your beds.

Ready, Set, Stage

The goal of staging is to showcase your home's best features, such as a view, a large kitchen, wood flooring, a fireplace or unique architectural elements. Each room should have an obvious purpose. For example, a bedroom should look like a bedroom and not be packed with disparate miscellaneous items.

The stager will then choose a focal point to highlight in each room, such as a staircase, an arch or large windows. He or she will accomplish this by selecting a pleasant color scheme and then accessorizing with items such as rugs, vases, plants, linens, window treatments, and pillows. Often the stager will simply reposition your furniture and accessorize with existing items from the household, moving them from room to room and utilizing them in new and unexpected ways. This is where the artistry happens and this is how the stager earns her pay - by using her creativity and eye for decorating to make your home look beautiful - quickly. She will typically supplement with items from her own inventory and add some rented furniture, if necessary.

Another fun technique of the stager is the creation of vignettes - arrangements that set the stage and capture the imagination of potential buyers by making your home look elegant, relaxing and inviting... a laundry basket full of fresh white linens with some lavender tied with raffia, a breakfast tray on a fluffed-up bed with magazines and fresh flowers, and elaborate place settings and a beautiful centerpiece on the dining room table.

Once the staging is complete, it is Open House time. The stager will apply the finishing touches: open the blinds and shades, turn on all the lights and lamps, light candles, place up lights in dark corners, add fresh flowers, plug in air fresheners and perhaps put on soft music to create a peaceful ambience.

The Cost (Investment) of Staging

Staging can cost as little as a few hundred dollars for a detailed consultation (for those who wish to do it themselves but need some direction) to under $1000 for a small home to up into the thousands for a large vacant house in need of furniture, decorating and accessories. Many stagers will do as little or as much as the seller wants, and employing just a few decorating and staging techniques can go a long way. Typically the client will pay up front for the staging services, then pay a monthly rental fee for accessories and furniture that were brought into the home.

Regardless of the cost of staging, it is always less than your first price reduction, so it pays to make the investment up front and really impress the buyers. You typically won't get a second chance to make a first impression.

If you've got a small yard and would like an easy but professionally maintained garden, you only need two things - resolution and understanding. These are some pointers about the way to keep your garden by the yard looking sharpened up and glamorous.

One. Deadheading Keep your border free from shriveled flowers and dried leaves. Deadheading or removing dead flower heads will spur the plants to supply more blooms for longer. Many evergreens like geraniums and dahlias, and some annuals benefit from having spent blooms removed.

Pinch out tops. Certain plants - especially foliage plants like Coleus - respond with a spurt of growth when their tops are pinched out. Pinching out makes the plant much bushier and so more blooms are produced. Fuchsias are prone to becoming leggy unless they are pinched out.

Fertilize lightly. A minimal amount of fertilizer will further boost the growth of your vegetation. If you water your yard frequently, you have to fertilize it more regularly because of nutrient depletion. A fortnightly application of liquid fertilizer is sometimes more beneficial than granules as it is more readily absorbed by the leaves. Container plants will be considerably healthier with a half-strength solution of liquid fertilizer applied regularly.

Remove. This is one of the best techniques to save the brilliant thing about your garden by the yard. Remember, weeds say with your plants for both nutrient elements and moisture. If the weeds aren't close to seeding, leave them on the bed to rot down for mulch. If you have got to employ a weedicide, attempt to get a wick applicator, rather than a spray. This will protect you plants from spray-drift.

Water them well One good tip when it comes to watering your garden by the yard is to give it a radical soaking once each week, guaranteeing there's no run-off to cause erosion. Deep watering will spur the enlargement of deeper roots that'll be prepared to resist dry spells weatherwise.

Say no to chemicals. Chemicals are dangerous to humans and often kill the natural predators of the pest in your garden, so avoid them if possible. There are many organic alternatives that work almost as well. With these simple tips, your garden by the yard will soon be the envy of your neighbors.
